Strengthen your skills with a european curriculum vitae!

With reference to the mobility of students and teachers, the ITS Foundation of Piacenza can count on the support of founding members able to make available previous experiences, networks and networks of partners and institutions consolidated for years, in particular the ISII Marconi of Piacenza has gained many years of experience in the management of Erasmus projects and the ITL Research Foundation, which brings together all the Universities of the Emilia Romagna regional territory, boasts over 15 years of management and participation in European projects within different programs ( Erasmus, Horizon, Interreg…).

LANGUAGE POLICY

The ITS Foundation of Piacenza is committed to guaranteeing specific training for the knowledge of the English language in each of its courses, both in general and in the professional context of reference.

The English language accompanies students constantly throughout the two years. At the start, the class attends a 40-hour preparatory course in English, aimed at reviewing the grammar and realigning all students, coming from different high school addresses. During the two-year period, the English module, out of a total of 1200 hours of teaching, consists of 150 hours. Furthermore, also within the technical mobility and logistics training units, lessons and testimonials are provided, taught by teachers and company managers, directly in English.

For foreign students hosted at the courses of the ITS Piacenza Foundation, a real language support will be provided.

Furthermore, the ITS Foundation has specific professional figures, such as the classroom tutor and the coordinator, as well as of course the teaching team, able to accompany their students for the entire duration of their studies (each course has a limited number for up to 25 students). Attendance is compulsory. This approach greatly facilitates the reception of foreign students and their insertion both within the class group and in terms of learning the contents of the courses and the language.

ECTS METHODOLOGY

With reference to the ECTS credit system, on a national level, there is no reference legislation, autonomy is left to the various ITS Foundations that have to relate to the various universities.

The ITS Foundation of Piacenza, in agreement with the University which is chosen from time to time by the student who decides to continue his studies, establishes how many CFUs are awarded to the student, gained through the ITS course. In general, the conventional method of calculating credits (ECTS) has been implemented and is based on the volume of work done by each student. On average, the students of the ITS courses attend 24-28 hours of lessons per week and carry out 30-40 hours of internship per week (which has a total duration of 800 hours over the 2 years). The classroom activities also include activities with a high experimental and practical content such as exercises, project work, realization of projects, etc. As regards the students who carry out the internship abroad, the learning outcomes (which must be verified) and the workload are defined in the Learning Agreement. The assessment of the learning outcomes will be carried out by the reference teacher (s) and will also be validated by the Technical Scientific Committee of the Foundation (CTS).

It is also important to underline, for the visibility of the student's study path, that after obtaining the title of "Higher Technician" (after passing a state exam) the student receives (in addition to the Diploma) the Europass Supplement which contains the '' entire course of study (translated into English) in order to promote the recognition of the qualification also abroad and European mobility also for work.

INTERNATIONALIZATION PROJECTS

During each two-year training period, the ITS Foundation organizes, usually in the spring of the second year, a study tour abroad, in Europe, lasting three days. In recent years, relations with the Port of Rotterdam and Antwerp have been consolidated and represent a reality of strategic importance in the global logistics and transport chain. In 2020, the ITS Foundation of Piacenza also signed an operational collaboration with the Escola Europea of Barcelona thanks to which the students of the Piacenza and Bologna courses will be able to carry out their study tour in the Port of Barcelona, another major European and world logistic hub. The different synergies with companies in the sector in the local area make it possible to organize internships abroad for deserving students in the second year of their studies. Particular attention is also paid by the course management to the participation of classes in European trade fairs in the logistics and mobility sector, such as Logimat in Stuttgart and Transport Logistic in Munich.

The ITS Foundation of Piacenza is currently awaiting ECHE Erasmus accreditation in order to participate in the European Erasmus calls.
